In Physical Education, children are presented with opportunities to experience the value of empathy for others while playing sport and are encouraged to lean into the strengths of others to achieve success in whatever the task may be. They are offered the chance to develop their understanding of the dynamics of risk as it pertains to them in the safe environment of a sporting challenge, and the value a positive mindset can have on the potential outcome. The power of positive relationships is integral to each lesson and pupils are encouraged to develop their own identity as an athlete.

In Primary 6, children have one hour of curriculum PE with their class and an afternoon of Games where they are split into boys and girls on separate sites.

Through their PE curriculum, they experience blocks of work lasting approximately 6 weeks in swimming, short tennis, touch rugby, fitness and hockey.

During their Games afternoon, the boys make a choice to play rugby or hockey in the winter months and then cricket or athletics during the summer term.

All girls participate in hockey until October. They then have a choice of either continuing hockey or participating in a multisport programme. If they wish to be considered for hockey teams then they must select hockey as their winter sport. In the summer term they have a choice of athletics, tennis or cricket with the opportunity to represent the school in all three sports.
