Primary 6 and 7 children may apply to become a Peer Mediator and Mentor. The successful applicants will receive training in the principles and techniques of conflict resolution to help other children from Primary 4 to 7 solve problems and resolve disputes. These Peer Mediators/Mentors, working in pairs or small groups, help other children by giving them an opportunity to talk through their disagreement or problem. They do not offer advice but, instead, take the children through a series of steps using a systematic mediation process so that they can find their own way of resolving their problem. The team of Mediators and Mentors work under the guidance of teachers.
