Art in Primary 6 is taught by the Class Teacher and is generally linked to topic work. Core observational drawing and painting skills are practised and further fostered. Children develop their understanding of line, tone, colour and form through a range of media and create a variety of two and three-dimensional pieces.
A reflective and critical approach is encouraged with opportunities to look at the work of artists past and present to support this. Artists used as inspiration include Chuck Close, Nathan Coley, Leonardo Da Vinci, Joan Eardly, Gustav Klimt and Jitish Kallat. The importance of personal expression is reinforced alongside the progression of skills and techniques.
