Forest Kindergarten

The ethos of Forest Kindergarten allows learners the time and space to develop skills, interests and understanding through practical, hands-on experiences. It also allows practitioners to step back and observe the children in order to then encourage and inspire individuals, setting them up to achieve through small manageable tasks.

Forest Kindergarten supports the holistic development of a child through:

  • Health and fitness
  • Increased emotional wellbeing
  • Social development
  • Skills development
  • Gaining knowledge and understanding
  • Individualised learning
  • Curriculum links

We revisit Forest Kindergarten in Primary 1 as part of the transition process for children moving from Nursery to Primary 1 as well as at other times in the year.
